Senior High School

Overview

The Senior High School program at The Manila Times College of Subic covers Grades 11 and 12 and represents the final and most specialized stage of the K to 12 Basic Education cycle. During these years, students transition from general academic preparation to focused study within a chosen strand that reflects their interests, strengths, and long-term goals. The program is structured to provide both academic depth and real-world relevance, equipping learners with the competencies required for university education, professional certification, or employment.

At this level, students encounter more advanced subject content, performance-based assessments, and research-oriented tasks that demand critical thinking, discipline, and intellectual independence. Coursework is designed to strengthen analytical reasoning, communication skills, collaboration, and responsible decision-making. Teachers guide students in managing academic responsibilities while encouraging maturity, accountability, and self-direction.

Senior High School integrates rigorous classroom instruction with research, applied subjects, and work immersion experiences. These components allow students to connect theoretical learning with practical application, gain exposure to professional environments, and develop a clearer understanding of their future academic or career pathways.

Academic Strands

TMTCS offers three academic strands that allow students to focus their studies according to their future goals. Each strand provides a structured curriculum that combines core subjects with specialized courses.

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)

The STEM strand is intended for students who plan to pursue degrees in medicine, engineering, information technology, architecture, and other science-related fields. The curriculum places strong emphasis on advanced Mathematics and Science, including subjects that develop analytical reasoning, quantitative skills, and research competence.

Students engage in laboratory work, investigative research, and problem-solving activities that mirror real-world scientific inquiry. The strand develops precision, logical thinking, and the ability to apply theoretical knowledge to practical situations. STEM graduates are well prepared for demanding college programs in the sciences and technology sectors.

ABM (Accountancy, Business, and Management)

The ABM strand prepares students for careers in business, entrepreneurship, finance, marketing, and management across various industries and professional sectors. The curriculum introduces fundamental concepts in accounting, economics, business mathematics, and organizational management.

Students learn to analyze financial data, understand market behavior, and develop business plans through structured projects and case studies. Practical applications and simulations allow learners to experience decision-making processes common in commercial environments. The strand builds communication skills, strategic thinking, and responsible leadership in economic and business contexts.

HUMSS (Humanities and Social Sciences)

The HUMSS strand is designed for students interested in communication, education, psychology, political science, public administration, law, and other related social science disciplines. Coursework emphasizes critical analysis, research writing, public speaking, interpretive reading, and the study of social systems, institutions, and human behavior within local and global contexts.

Students explore societal issues, cultural dynamics, governance systems, and global perspectives while developing strong communication and interpretive skills. The strand fosters empathy, ethical reasoning, informed civic awareness, and the ability to engage thoughtfully and responsibly with complex social challenges and contemporary issues.

Research, Work Immersion, and Career Readiness

All Senior High students complete research subjects that develop inquiry skills, academic writing, and evidence-based analysis. These research experiences prepare learners for the expectations of college-level study and independent scholarship.

Work immersion is an integral part of the Senior High program. Students are given opportunities to observe and participate in professional environments related to their chosen strand. This exposure allows them to apply classroom learning in real contexts, gain insight into workplace expectations, and make informed decisions about future career paths.

Through strand specialization, research training, and experiential learning, the Senior High School program ensures that graduates are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and discipline necessary for success in higher education and professional life.
